We are looking to recruit a General Manager - Residential Care who can step into this impressive senior management team.

The Whiddon Group have over seventy years experience caring for elderly Australians. With close to 2000 staff and 2000 residents/clients, they are certainly a prominent organisation within the industry.

  • Whiddon has twenty-five residential aged care facilities predominately across NSW (also QLD). This includes metro and remote areas

The Role 

As the General Manager - Residential Care, you will report directly to the Deputy CEO and will be a key member of the senior management team.
You will have five direct reports including two Regional Managers, the Residential Manager of Easton Park (500+ bed flagship site), the ACFI Manager and Hospitality Manager.
Your role will be predominately based in the Glenfield head office but will also include travel to facilities as required.

Role Objectives
  • Work closely with the Deputy CEO and other key stakeholders to create, evolve and implement strategies for the current and future success, growth and competitiveness of the organisation
  • Oversee the operational management of the residential care services and ensure services are delivered in accordance with our Purpose and Values and all other relevant statutory requirements
  • Drive the development and implementation of the strategic direction, including the conversion of the strategic direction into business and/or operational strategies
  • Provide leadership, direction and management of staff to ensure the highest standards of quality care and adopting a culture of continuous quality improvement
  • Promote and maintain sound systems incorporating a risk management approach
  • Promote and champion evidence-based practice to ensure the provision of high outcomes in the standards of client care, within budgetary limitations
  • Ensuring compliance with a range of applicable Government Legislation
  • Provide support to the Directors Care Services and Residential Managers in leading and directing the provision of Residential Care services
  • Contribute to the identification, assessment and management of business risks

Your Skills & Experience
  • Current Nursing registration (AHPRA)
  • Tertiary qualifications in health management (or related)
  • Proven high-level management competencies in strategic planning, operational management, project management, staff management, budget control and time management
  • Solid experience within the aged care sector at senior management level - Multi-site management 
  • Sound knowledge of aged care legislation, regulation, ACFI and the accreditation process
  • Experience with change management and continuous improvement
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the health and aged care sectors, external agencies and funding relevant to industry
  • Strong business acumen - Sound financial management knowledge
  • Ability to drive great outcomes across multi-site and multi-disciplinary teams
