Part Time 30.4 hours per week, 12 month
fixed term contract.
The Wathaurong Aboriginal Health Service is a fast growing and innovative health service that aims to provide the local Aboriginal community with culturally appropriate, high quality care. The following position is now available:-
The successful applicant will be part of a service aimed at providing counselling and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are tracing or locating their families or planning a reunion.
This role will require that you are able to facilitate healing and improvements in the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families who have been affected by past policies and practices of forced removal. You will assist and support local Aboriginal people who are members of the ‘stolen generation’ or have been removed from their families, to trace their family origin and provide culturally appropriate support, counselling and advocacy to these Aboriginal people and their families.
A formal qualification with counselling experience is required for this role. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
If you have extensive experience in related areas of work and a solid understanding of the issues confronting Aboriginal communities then we want to hear from you.
