The Ward:

Banksia ward is a part of the RCH Mental Health department. Banksia is a 16-bed inpatient ward where young people aged 12 to 18 years receive assessment, care and treatment for a range of mental health concerns. The Banksia ward uses a multidisciplinary team approach in assessment and care delivery for young people and their families. Banksia provides a ward based program within a therapeutic environment that will ensure the young people feel supported and have success in achieving their recovery goals. Banksia ward is committed to providing a contemporary, evidence-based and research orientated work place, to provide optimal mental health care for young people and their families.

The Role:

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager’s role is to support the ward and Nurse Unit Manager by providing management of and leadership to staff, ensuring that clinical practice and delivery of care provided by staff is consistent with RCH and Australian Nurses and Midwifery Council standards through comprehensive, safe and evidence-based practice to facilitate optimal health outcomes. 

 

As an ANUM you will lead by example. Using your advanced clinical knowledge, you will be crucial in supporting the development of the nursing team on your unit, ensuring the delivery of excellent patient and family centred care in a team focused environment. 

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current Nursing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Previous mental health experience is essential
  • Evidence of on-going professional development as reflected in Professional Practice Portfolio. 
  • A Post Graduate qualification in the area of mental health nursing is essential
