An exciting opportunity exists in Metro Branch West for a Pathology Specimen Collector based in the Metro West (Logan zone) area. This part time position (min 38 hours per fortnight) will be required to cover various shifts between 06:00am and 8:00pm, Monday to Friday with weekend work according to operational demands.

Your duties will include:

  • Collection of blood and other samples from patients;
  • Offsite commercial / occupational testing and collections (Urinary Drug/Alcohol screening, Pre/Post employment screening & hazardous substance monitoring etc.);
  • Packaging and dispatching of specimens;
  • Stock maintenance;
  • Greeting patients / customers and assist with appointments and request details;
  • Receive payments and receipting of patient accounts;
  • Provide advice on special requirements, preparation and instructions for tests; and
  • Compliance and adherence with QML Pathology policies and procedures, and Workplace Health and Safety procedures.

You will possess:

  • An outstanding patient / customer focus, including the ability to liaise with internal and external customers;
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures;
  • Must be a cohesive and contributing member of the team and display positive attitudes towards achieving outcomes;
  • Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;
  • Attention to detail and accuracy;
  • A current QLD Driver’s Licence; and
  • Demonstrated experience in pathology specimen collection or a Certificate III in Pathology will be held in high regard.
