Mayflower is a not-for profit organisation which provides a combination of home care, residential aged care and seniors living at 3 sites across Melbourne. We aim to enable people to enhance their independence, health and lifestyle in partnership with our staff.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic Registered Nurse with aged care experience who is committed to providing ‘care without compromise’, with expertise in dementia care and sound clinical knowledge to join our team in Reservoir, a 38-bed facility which is located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor the care needs of all residents. This includes the development and implementation of detailed personal assessments, care plans and associated programs as required.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Contribute to the evaluation, review and development of policies and procedures within your area of expertise.
  • Ensure that medications are managed in accordance with policy, procedures and protocols.
  • Thorough understanding of ACFI and government funding.
  • Manage the roster to ensure daily staffing levels are maintained.
  • Participate in admission and discharge of residents.
  • Awareness of relevant legislative standards and guidelines.
  • Pro-actively participate in the quality management system.
  • Conduct audits and other surveys as directed.
  • Actively problem solve in response to comments and complaints.
  • Manage, coordinate and lead the team.
  • Direct supervision of staff.
  • Proactively support the development and education of care staff.
  • Liaise with doctors, nurses, other allied health providers to facilitate optimum health care and clinical practice outcomes for residents.
  • Liaise with and involve residents and their representatives in the assessment care planning and ongoing review processes.
  • Supervise, support and provide orientation for new staff when required.
  • Manage the facility in the absence of the Executive Officer when required.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Minimum 5 years of experience and excellent understanding of ACFI documentation.
  • Sound knowledge of the Accreditation Standards.
  • A current AHPRA Nursing registration.
  • Self-motivation with well developed organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines, delegate and attend to multiple tasks.
  • An experienced aged care professional with proven clinical and leadership skills.
  • Ensure that standards are met through continuous quality improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed computer skills.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ACFI and government funding.
  • Understanding of issues relating to OH&S matters including infection control, manual handling and hazard identification.
  • Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Records Check.
