This position reports to the National Treatment Room Manager and is responsible for providing leadership and guidance amongst the nursing team whilst assisting the local Practice Manager to ensure that quality support services are provided to our team of medical practitioners.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Provide a highly professional and welcoming service to patients by focusing on customer service and patient-centred care.
Act as a nurse role model in all activities within the Our Medical Home centre and when representing the company externally.
Administer medications and immunisations under the direction of the doctor and in
accordance with current state-based immunisation schedules.
Assess and triage patients following AHPRA, industry guidelines and in accordance with the Treatment Room Standard Operating Procedures.
Assist the Practice Manager to develop and maintain rosters for the treatment room that meet the patient needs and maintain appropriate staff ratios in accordance with the requirement of the practice.
Maintain adequate stock levels by conducting stocktakes as required, managing stock and ordering on a monthly basis
Ensure all treatment room equipment is maintained in a serviceable manner in
accordance with manufactures guidelines and report any issues that may impact on
service delivery to the Practice Manager immediately.
Provide high quality support and assistance to doctors and Health Professionals whilst
working within the scope of AHPRA registration, standards, codes and guidelines.
Work within the company guidelines, performing tasks as outlined in the Treatment Room Standard Operating Procedures and follow industry standards and guidelines.
Comply with all the requirements of privacy legislation and Our Medical Home privacy policy, including maintaining patient and practice confidentiality at all times.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive and timely documentation of assessments, planning, actions, evaluations and nursing practice in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses and the Our Medical Home Treatment Room Standard Operating Procedures. Documentation will be subject to random quality audits.
Practice and ensure safe management of vaccines as outlined in the Strive for 5 and
Vaccine Management Policy.
Maintain high infection control standards in accordance with the Treatment Room Standard Operating Procedures and the RACGP Infection Control Guidelines.
Ensure the treatment room maintains current accreditation standards and participate in accreditation activities.
Foster a quality focused environment for staff and patients by reviewing and evaluating
current systems and procedures relevant to your role and suggesting improvement.
Promote team building and communication by holding regularly scheduled treatment
room staff meetings, participating in centre meetings and GP led clinical meetings as
required.
Skills and experience
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
Clinical competence in the area of practice nursing.
Able to use Best Practice and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) software.
Able to engage and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders (such as patients, health care professionals, team members and third parties) in a professional, constructive, co-operative and facilitative manner
Able to provide support, direction, orientation and education to new and less experienced
staff, including Treatment Room Nurses and Treatment Room Assistants, in accordance with Our Medical Home policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
Able to act as a role model in the provision of holistic care to patients and/or clients.
Assist the National Treatment Room Manager to develop relevant policies and procedures.
