We have opportunities for Support Workers to join our team, Regis Home Care, working in Cairns.

As a Home Support Worker you are the Regis representative in the homes of our valued clients. You play a vital role in providing customised care and services to each client, supporting them to maintain well-being and independence in their own surroundings for as long as possible.

Positions are available in a permanent part time capacity, working a variety of shifts across 7 days. Shift times vary across a 24 hour schedule including weekends and public holidays.

The Role:

As a Home Support Worker with Regis Home Care, your role will be to:

• Provide services to the client in their home, as outlined in the Care Plan and regularly review the Care Plan to ensure you have an up to date understanding of particular client circumstances, needs and services.
• You will monitor the client and their environment and report any issues, needs, changes or suggestions to your Client Services manager

Your duties will differ according to the needs of the client, however may include:

• Personal care - showering, oral care, continence management
• Food preparation - preparing meals, monitoring foods and fluids
• Social support - escorting the client on outings such as shopping trips, visits, coffee/ lunch excursions
• Transport - for the client to doctors appointments, to/ from hospital, to/ from respite care
• Domestic Assistance - cleaning, tidying and bed making to ensure the client is living in an appropriately clean and sanitised environment
• Medication Assistance - (subject to holding current medication competency) issuing and/ or monitoring to ensure medication is being taken, assisting with simple dressings, application of ointments; basic observations such as temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and blood sugar; assisting with physiotherapy exercises.

Your experience:

• Qualified with a Certificate III in Community Care or Aged Care
• A current drivers licence and own vehicle; road worthy with comprehensive insurance
• Previous experience in a Carer role
• First Aid / CPR Qualifications
• Police Clearance
• A hands on approach to your role with a focus on customer service and leadership
• Proven capability and experience in leading a team
• Case Management experience will be a distinct advantage
