About the role

An opportunity has become available for an experienced Technician with demonstrated oncology skills and knowledge to work in our Oncology and Intravenous Preparation Unit at our HPS Pharmacies site located in Spring Hill.

This full time role will require you to work 38 hours per week Monday to Friday inclusive.

Our oncology service is well respected and services a variety of private and public cancer centres, providing a comprehensive oncology pharmacy service with a commitment to quality patient care.

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Oncology Technician is involved in the preparation of a variety of parenteral admixtures including cytotoxic medications.

Key responsibilities

  • Compounding/mixing chemotherapy/aseptic products in a laminar-flow cabinet/pharmaceutical isolator
  • Preparing and dispensing prescriptions in accordance with PBS regulations
  • reparation, packing and labelling of final oncology productswith the pAssisting the oncology pharmacists 
  • Assisting with stock/inventory management
  • Adhering to aseptic manufacturing standards, including performing laminar-flow/isolator maintenance/cleaning
  • General duties, including attending to client needs via telephone and email queries

You must have

  • A can-do attitude and team focus
  • Proven chemotherapy compounding experience
  • The ability to work in isolation within a cleanroom environment
  • Proven ability to adhere to WHS policies and protocols
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff
  • A high level of attention to detail and precision in record keeping
  • The ability to organise complex tasks and solve problems
  • Analytical thinking to make sound judgements and develop appropriate innovative solutions
  • Proven experience meeting key performance indicators and business objectives
  • Hospital experience is highly desirable.
