About Us
Harness Racing Victoria (HRV), a statutory body, is responsible for the control, development and promotion of the Victorian harness racing industry. With strong links to rural and regional communities, we are committed to developing a vibrant and sustainable harness racing industry which promotes participation, integrity and racing excellence.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for racing who wants to start a career in the harness racing industry. This is a rare opportunity to join the Harness Racing Victoria's Integrity Unit and contribute to maintaining and upholding the integrity of the sport.
As a Cadet Steward you will attend harness racing meetings as a member of the Stewards Panels and assist with inquiries/appeal hearings to ensure that harness racing is conducted fairly in accordance with the Australian Harness Racing Rules.
The successful applicant will be provided with on and off the job training and must be willing to undertake accredited training to advance their career.
This role requires regular travel throughout regional Victoria including light aircraft; and you must have a flexible view with regard to working hours which will include regular nights and weekend work.
About You
Ideally, we are seeking an applicant who meets the following key criteria:
- Possess a current driver's license or ability to obtain one.
- A keen interest in the racing industry and an interest in regulatory matters
- Be a self-starter
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to manage conflict
- Able to problem solve and make decisions
- Knowledge and experience with working with horses is an advantage
