About the role:

The Family Violence Command is looking for a dynamic and motivated member to lead its Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Team. 

Reporting to the Superintendent of the Operations Division, this role will drive a multi-disciplinary team responsible for developing and delivering significant reforms across Victoria Police in relation to sexual offending and child abuse.  This will include working closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive practice and cultural change in line with the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (RCIRCSA).

Your duties will include:

  • Leading the successful implementation of major corporate projects in accordance with established project management methodologies and reporting controls.
  • Providing leadership and managing the efficient progress of corporate projects through all project management phases and providing high level specialist advice.
  • Identifying and resolving potential risks on legislative and policy issues within a diverse and complex environment.
  • Establishing strong networks with key stakeholders and clients.
  • Leading, managing and developing a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Responsibility for identifying and implementing improvements to frontline and specialist policing responses to sexual offences and child abuse.
  • Ensuring informed delivery of Victoria Police's responses to RCIRCSA.
  • Ensuring informed delivery of the Victoria Police Strategy for Family Violence. Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, 2018-2023.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated record of achievement at a senior level in successfully managing the implementation of complex large-scale projects and change management.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues.
  • Experience in effectively managing a team and modelling high level leadership attributes in the workplace.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience relevant to the themes of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable.
  • Relevant project management qualification(s) would also be desirable (such as Graduate Certificate in Project Management or Prince2 Practitioner).
