This is a full time, Ongoing position.
The Judicial Commission of Victoria (Commission) is an independent body which commenced on 1 July 2017. The function of the Commission is to investigate complaints about, and to establish guidelines regarding, the standards of ethical and professional conduct of judicial officers and non-judicial members of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
The Lawyer will be part of a small team responsible for the investigation of complaints and providing high level advice and support to the Director, Judicial Commission of Victoria, the Board of the Judicial Commission and Investigating Panels. The complaint handling responsibilities include intake and assessment, investigation and determination of complaints.
The Senior Lawyer will liaise with the public, the judiciary, legal counsel and external stakeholders at senior levels. The incumbent will contribute to strategic initiatives, and participate in the education functions of the Judicial Commission.
The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer with experience in the Victorian courts system and investigation of complaints.
