Role
We have a unique opportunity for a capable professional in the Civil/Environmental Engineering and Science sector to lead our established SEQ Water & Environment Business Unit. The multidisciplinary team currently comprises engineers and scientists covering hydrology and drainage, aquatic and terrestrial ecology, as well as EIA and environmental sustainability practitioners, with scope to expand our service offering and grow this part of the business. Collaboration with the range of specialist disciplines across the broader Cardno group is also key to servicing our client’s needs. This is a fantastic prospect for someone with outstanding leadership capabilities, commercial acumen and business growth focus. You will join a progressive global organisation and will be responsible for managing the business unit to achieve business targets in growth, financial performance and project delivery for our clients. This role offers the chance to lead a strong team and work closely with industry experts to make a difference for our clients locally and throughout the region.
 
This role offers the opportunity for you to:
  • Develop and implement strategies for people, clients, growth, quality, safety and performance
  • Provide leadership and direction that delivers high performance in an environment of cooperation and collaboration
  • Motivate, mentor, recruit and manage staff
  • Foster client relationships and promote the Cardno brand
  • Ensure project solutions deliver value for our clients, are innovative, timely and maintain Cardno’s high professional standard
  • Work with the regional Water & Environment team, and contribute to Asia Pacific regional strategic planning
  • Identify and capitalise on opportunities for new business with the support of Business Stream leaders
  • Identify and address risks to business operations
  • Become a Cardno Ambassador by actively promoting the company, attending and/or presenting at industry events
 
The successful candidate will likely possess:
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications and relevant experience in the water and environment area within QLDand across the region
  • Registration within Profession (e.g. CPEng, RPEQ or CEnvP) or eligibility for corporate membership
  • A strong understanding of commercial concepts to develop and deliver short- and long-range business goals
  • Knowledge of Quality & Safety and the importance of risk management
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of staff career development, review processes and training
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, mentoring and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated skills in managing and leading teams, projects and people
  • Ability to successfully manage the business units finances, including projections and cash flows
  • Demonstrated ability to foster trusted long-term business relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders for mutual benefit
