About the role

Part of our maintenance function at our continuous manufacturing plant in KI, the Plant Mechanical Reliability Engineer will ensure safe operation and asset availability of mechanical systems and related equipment across the plants’ fixed assets.

Working as part of a large site, the role has the potential for career development into a leadership position within manufacturing.

Kooragang Island, located on the central coast at Newcastle in New South Wales, offers a range of lifestyle benefits including access to coastal waterways, excellent public services and schools. This plant is the world's largest Industrial Grade Ammonium Nitrate Complex and contains a Sodium Cyanide plant.

What you will be doing

  • Plan, develop, and improve the maintenance strategy for fixed plant assets including plant turnarounds
  • Deliver continuous improvement in the cost effective, efficient and reliable operation of the plant;
  • Review and determine improvements to delivery of Optimise plant maintenance costs to improve both short term budget KPI's and long term profitable and reliable operation;
  • Work with Responsible Engineers to ensure the plant meets statutory and Orica requirements for Licence to Operate;
  • Oversight of specialist maintenance and engineering service providers, including optimising outcomes (cost, relevance, timeliness); Reporting and analysis of equipment performance and operational data (Asset Availability, Maintenance costs, Life Cycle Cost and Reliability)

What you bring

  • Mechanical Engineering with 4 years+ experience in continuous manufacturing and related services;
  • Considerable safety and change management exposure;
  • Ability to apply detailed mechanical knowledge and engineering experience within hazardous chemical plant environment;
  • Demonstrable competency in using operational data to make decisions and decision making based on root cause analysis;
  • Strong hazard identification and safety management skills;
  • Effective engagement and communication with key stakeholders;
  • Proven ability to work with CMMS and related planning & delivery systems Ability to prioritise work according to business requirements
