The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) plays a central leadership role in the development and operations of the Australian sport sector and acts as the leading sports agency in Australia, building collaboration, alignment and effectiveness within the Australian sport sector. The Applied Technology and Innovation Branch manages significant amounts of high performance sport data available through the field of Machine Learning and Analytics, to provide athletes, coaches and support personnel with customisable, decision support required to deliver medals at major international events.
As the Research Engineer Lead, you will support the Video and Machine Learning Specialist to drive key research projects including machine learning, video analysis and data collection. You will use software development skills and will supervise key AIS and external personnel to develop, build and implement systems to enhance advanced sports data collection systems and use this information to enhance outcomes across the High Performance Sport system.
The kind of person we are looking for will have relevant qualifications and/or significant experience in Deep Learning, Computer Vision or Artificial Intelligence as well as:
- Further experience in deep neural networks, convolutional neural networks, random forests, classifiers, feature representations, AI / Artificial Intelligence and/or related techniques
- Demonstrated experience with PyTorch and Tensorflow (essential)
- Strong skills in Python (essential); Jave, Matlab or C++ (desirable)
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with and manage needs of a range of stakeholders through strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
The preferred location for the role is Canberra however negotiable for the right candidate.
This role is offered as a fixed term contract until 18 December 2020.
Salary range = $88,434 - $101,959 per annum plus superannuation.
