Randstad are working exclusively with a power engineering consultancy who pride themselves on delivering quality projects across Australia. We are currently advertising an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead/Senior Electrical Distribution Design Engineer to join this national consultancy. This group provides specialist services across the generation, transmission and distribution space for power utilities, local government authorities, construction and other industries.

This organization will become a key player in the future delivery of Distribution assets, likely projects include greenfield and brownfield substations, with related aerial and underground line design. The Distribution design team is primarily responsible for the provision of design and design management services required to support the planning, scoping, estimating and delivery of a wide range of project types in SA and interstate.

Key Accountabilities

• Conducting detailed design and prepare technical reports for clients, including cable route and/or aerial design, distribution substation design, feeder reticulation and overhead traction power supply feeder projects.
• Lead a team of electrical engineers within a multi-disciplined engineering team to deliver a range of mine infrastructure related projects
• Technical leadership of electrical engineering design for distribution clients
• Leading scope and budget development in response to clients’ needs
• Allocate resources and track budgets
• Working with the wider resources team and other teams within the company nationally to deliver clients’ outcomes
• Perform as part of a larger multi-discipline design team and contribute to multi-discipline design reviews
• Responsible for delivery of relevant areas of project within proposed deadlines and budgets.
• Undertake site inspections and associated reporting, in accordance with relevant OH&S practises.
• Provide support to Design Managers when liaising with clients and contractors in relation to project objectives and targets on technical issues and problem resolution.
• It is considered desirable to have experience in aerial line design or earthing design.
• Proven communication, technical report writing and presentation skills and keen to progress your career in a technically driven multidisciplinary setting.
• Contribute to broader team effort of business development
• To be successful in this position, you must have relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or similar discipline coupled with upwards of 5 years’ experience

This position will suit an experienced Senior Engineer who thrives on a mix of direct client contact, technical design, total project ownership and is seeking to take this to the next level. Candidates will ideally have between 7-15 years’ experience, but exceptions will also be considered on a case by case basis with a supporting cover letter. You will require proven consulting experience with client management and design & construction skills, in addition to thorough technical knowledge, solid analytical skills and a desire to participate in a unique company culture.
