Due to the growth of our business and an expanded portfolio of projects, an exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Senior Transportation Modeller to join our team.

 

As part of the Transport Planning team, this role covers a broad range of skills relating to transport modelling. The primary focus of this role is to contribute to developing the transport modelling services of our business, supporting our clients and building a profitable Transport Planning team.

 

The Senior Transportation Modeller will undertake design, project management and consulting services within transport modelling, in order to enhance the team’s portfolio of skills and expertise. Working under minimal supervision within a defined area of responsibility, you will be responsible for managing an external project or specific parts.  In addition, the successful candidate will:

 

  • Develop the initial design ideas for new or improved transport infrastructure
  • Evaluate the benefits and costs of different scheme options or strategies
  • Design, interpret and present transport and travel surveys
  • Write clear reports and present options and recommendations to clients
  • Contribute to writing bids for the funding of projects
  • Use major strategic transport modelling software packages such as EMME and Cube Voyager – including experience in model development, and experience in development of scripts and macros in these packages (some experience with BSTM or similar would be an advantage)
  • Use micro-simulation modelling (Aimsun/VISSUM) and intersection modelling (SIDRA) software packages
  • Interrogate transport models to forecast the effects of different road improvements, policy changes and/or public transport schemes
  • Interpret modelling results and contribute to development of area wide or corridor transport strategies
  • Use statistical analysis to interrogate data
  • Assess the transport effects and infrastructure requirements of new developments to support Planning applications or to inform local authority development plans
  • Responsible for the development of junior staff through providing guidance, training and feedback

 

You will have demonstrated:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant industry experience in Transport and Traffic planning within a Consulting business environment
  • Excellent understanding of the transport planning environment in Queensland
  • Ability to manage major, multi-disciplinary projects
  • Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership will be highly regarded

 

With recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Planning, Transport or similar, you will be able to demonstrate your experience in design, project management and implementation in your field, within a consulting business environment.  

 

You will possess demonstrated excellent attention to detail along with high-level verbal and written communication skills. Additionally, you will have proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
