The Company
Pacvac is a market leader in the design and manufacture of commercial cleaning equipment and has been specialising in the ongoing innovations of backpack vacuum technologies for 40 years.
The Role
This is a core design and product development role within a growing R&D Department. You will support the design and development of new products with creative and innovative drive to ensure new product projects meet performance and delivery expectations. You will be involved in the whole development lifecycle from inception to manufacture with an emphasis on concept design, complex CAD modelling, prototyping, testing phases and production support.
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Work within the R&D team to achieve goals for new product development projects.
- Design and 3D modelling of plastic moulded parts to achieve performance, aesthetics and functional requirements.
- Design and refinement of initial product concepts into models and functional prototypes.
- Design for injection moulding/assembly and assessment of part design suitability for this purpose.
- Generate and adapt designs to capture Intellectual Property.
- Contribute to and work within the project schedule to track progress and goals.
- Refine, improve and support the current product lines.
- Assist on-line product support including travel to China for production checking.
- Liaise with various departments to deliver project needs.
- Perform product requirement and performance reviews.
- Evaluate designs based on performance, aesthetics, ease of assembly etc.
- Testing of prototypes and products.
- Analysis of test results and comparisons.
- Research technology, manufacturing methods, new product ideas etc. as part of the ongoing product research and innovation drive.
Essential criteria for this role:
- Tertiary qualification in engineering or design.
- Engineering degree is preferred, but other disciplines will be considered with strong experience in design of plastic parts.
- + 3 years’ experience in a product design or product development role.
- + 2 years’ Solidworks experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong creative approach and problem-solving skills.
- Well organised, self-motivated and able to manage workload independently.
- Hands-on approach.
