Our Asphalt team based in Thornton are looking for an experienced Estimator to join their team. Reporting to the Managing Estimator/Sales - Asphalt, your primary focus will be to manage tenders and quotations and grow sales for our Asphalt contracting business in the Hunter and Western region.
About the position:
The position involves establishing and maintaining a strong relationship with existing and potential customers to ensure the Company meets its service and profit commitments. Key customers include civil contractors, local government and infrastructure maintenance operators.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and develop professional tender submissions for major projects, civil contracting, local councils and Roads and Traffic Authority works
- Effectively analyse and control tender documentation
- Assist project managers with new design and cost analysis
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, and projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to tenders as the project develops
- Analyse documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates
- Build strong relationships with our customer's representatives.
Skills and experience:
- Estimating and/or relevant industry experience (previous experience within civil engineering will be highly regarded)
- The ability to interpret and quantify detailed documents and drawings
- Excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail
- Strong time management skills and ability to resolve issues
- Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and see tasks through to completion
- Proactive and innovative approach to problem solving
- Strong teamwork focus and an ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Strong verbal and the written communications skills and numerical accuracy
