About the role
This is an exciting opportunity where you will be responsible for leading risk and compliance initiatives and providing guidance and support on a wide range of risk and compliance issues to the business within a large regulated market in the Pacific Zone (Australia and New Zealand). The position is also a subject matter expert in one or more key risk and compliance areas (Risk Management, Compliance, Risk Technology and Assurance).
 
Responsibilities:
  • Directly involved in more complex compliance cases, including responses to complaints or regulatory inquiries (key engagements with APRA, AUSTRAC and ASIC)
  • Responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and controls for the EuroPac Market and the Pacific Zone in line with local legal and regulatory requirements
  • Reporting frequently to the Pacific Senior Management team and Board Risk Management Committee (as required)  as a trusted advisor on risk and compliance programs
  • Contributing to and reinforcing the Department's Strategic Plan or initiatives that impact the organisation
  • Developing the Compliance Management culture to support the implementation and effective operation of the enterprise risk management framework.
  • Developing the Enterprise Risk and Compliance Management System
  • Effectively managing direct reports to optimize Risk & Compliance performance
  • Key stakeholder engagement both internally and externally across all levels leadership team, Business lines, Audit, regulators and front line staff
Qualifications and experience
  • At least 10 years’ experience within Financial Services (Superannuation, Insurance and Financial Advice is preferable). Work experience should show depth in combined risk and compliance role under an APRA regulated risk framework
  • Must have some core compliance understanding (AML, Privacy, Conflicts, Governance and G&E Policies)
  • Must have prior experience of operating within a Three Lines of Defence inclusive of embedding and risk practices and control self-assessments
  • Must be familiar with risk management procedures and have operated under an APRA regulated entity and be familiar with data usage and reporting concepts
  • Business, Law, Accounting, Finance or related degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience operating with Boards and in the provision of Director level information (including written papers)
  • Excellent relationship skills and stakeholder management
