About the business and the role
We are a small accounting firm based in Canterbury with a team of 17.
We have an interesting bunch of SME clients who we love working with.
We try to live our values by being straight talking, demanding a solid contribution from all our team members and an environment that encourages development and learning.
We are looking to add a graduate to our team.
Job tasks and responsibilities
This is an entry level position, so initially you will be focused on enhancing your accounting skills and gaining a solid understanding of tax compliance. You will be focused on preparing work of a high quality in an efficient manner supporting your Senior and Manager.
You role will include:
- preparation of financial statements
- preparation of management accounts
- completion of income tax returns
- other tax services like FBT, BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax
We work in total open plan. There are no offices. So you will have exposure to everything that is happening in the office - from business restructures, to acquisitions and sales, business planning etc.
Skills and experience
We are quite strict on what we require:
1. You must like business. If you are not interested in what makes a business tick then this is probably not for you.
2.. You must have strong academic credentials. We are looking for at least a credit average. We know your results are not everything but they tell a story of hard work and application.
3. You must be well presented and communicate well.
4. You must understand the mix between work and play. We try to have fun at work, but when there is work to be done - we are hard at it. Our clients come first.
5. You must be organised and respect deadlines.
6. You must have initiative. We love to teach but we are not willing to teach people who do not want to learn. You need to take responsibility for your development.
7. You must be able to work in Australia
8. You must want to complete the CA or CPA program.
Experience is not necessary.
You must include an academic transcript to be considered.
