General Motors Financial is expanding into Australia with headquarters based in Port Melbourne. To support the launch of new operations, we are looking for a highly experienced Financial Accountant to become a foundation member of our exciting new organisation and assist in establishing our Finance & Accounting function in Australia.

About the role …

Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for GM Financial's internal and external financial reporting requirements. You will also be charged with mentoring & leading a small team.

We are currently at the pre-launch stage of our operations in Australia. Consequently, a large part of the role will be on developing systems and processes to facilitate effective launch. You will also be working with senior stakeholders to ensure compliance with business reporting, taxation and statutory requirements. Consequently, your problem solving abilities, attention to detail, deep knowledge of analytical techniques, and excellent communication skills will be highly regarded.

You will pride yourself in …

• Strong business acumen with the ability to provide executive management data driven business insights which translate into business performance and profitability
• Demonstrated track record in producing accurate financial reporting inclusive of month-end journal entries and account reconciliations
• Experience in preparation of monthly Statements, Cash Flows, and Country Results Reviews and associated analytics 
• End to end experience in managing local taxation obligations  e.g. BAS, FBT, ITR, payroll tax & workers comp
• Experience in managing and preparing APRA monthly returns for a financial services organisation
• Demonstrated 5+ years’ progressive experience in accounting 
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
• Tertiary qualification in Accounting - CPA or CA required
• Your experience within the Asset Finance Industry would be highly regarded
