We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Property Accountant to join our highly successful Office and Industrial team in Melbourne. As a Senior Property Accountant, you will be responsible for providing financial information and assistance to the O&I Asset Management team at an asset, portfolio and cost centre level to help achieve optimal performance and efficient outcomes for the business and its customers. This includes facilitating monthly forecasting and managing period-end reporting requirements as well as taking ownership for the integrity of the inputs and processes through which forecasts and reports are developed.

 

Other duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Manage the month end process and work with the relevant stakeholders to ensure accuracy of actuals and the flow through of information into the forecasting process;
  • Support the Property Management team to ensure accurate and timely forecasting of property net operating income and capex. This includes analysing outcomes and assisting with corrective action such as additional training, documentation and process improvements where necessary to improve accuracy;
  • Assist with preparation and analysis of information as part of the annual budgeting process and ad hoc analysis on your property(s) for use by the Portfolio Manager in internal and external reports or presentations;
  • Prepare portfolio cost centre (overheads and fees) reporting, and drive forecasting reviews with Portfolio Manager(s) as required;
  • Assist with optimising the profitability of your property(s) and portfolio(s) cost centre through identification of business initiatives and efficiencies in consultation with the Portfolio Manager;
  • Assist Property Managers with the preparation of reporting for Joint Owners for your property(s) in compliance with the Joint Ownership and Property Management Agreements as required;
  • Assist the Portfolio team with the Tax and Treasury functions as required;
  • Build effective business relationships and working collaboratively with Portfolio teams, Fund Analysts, our Offshore Team and Property Managers; attending meetings as required;
  • Working collaboratively with national teams to deliver O&I divisional initiatives, and contributing to the implementation of the O&I strategy;
  • Assist in implementation of new / improved financial systems and processes, testing, implementation, roll out & training to the business;

 

Technical competencies required are:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Business or Commerce;
  • CPA/CFA/CA qualification or equivalent;
  • Experience in the property industry;
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of the preparation and ongoing management of budgets, forecasts, reconciliations and variance analysis and reporting;
  • Commercial/financial acumen and strong analytical skills; and
  • High level of IT proficiency i.e. Microsoft Office package - knowledge of MEX, MRI, Cougar, BI and/or Salesforce is highly desirable;
