About the opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Key Account Manager to join our high performing national sales team, based out of our Melbourne metropolitan territory. You’ll partner with existing and prospective key account customers in the Commercial Transport and Rail industries to maximise sales opportunities of Castrol brand lubricants and associated services.

The role is accountable for driving growth with key customers measured through Sales Volume and Gross Margin. Therefore over half of your time will be spent on the road, building and maintaining relationships with customers, and a fully maintained company vehicle is provided. You’ll also spend a proportion of your time planning, analysing and administering accounts and prospecting new business. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Compliance with company and legislated Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) protocols
  • Develop and agree the annual plan for each Key Account in the area of responsibility ensuring these plans are aligned with the overall business strategy
  • Deliver financial performance targets for the Key Accounts including Volume, Gross Margin and Overdue
  • Support channel Sales Specialists by sharing best practices, market and channel related insights and coach them to improve their capabilities
  • Execute prospecting strategy for key accounts, including data gathering, market knowledge, stakeholder and relationship management and tender/offer processes
  • Manage customer business reviews to communicate and prove value delivery and reinforce relationships
  • Improve and deliver customer experience in Key Accounts by seeking continuous improvement and efficiency in all operations making sure the voice of the customer is represented in every decision we make.

About You

To be successful in the Key Account Manager role you will be degree-qualified and have significant experience in a B2B sales role ideally within the transport industry. You will be passionate about building relationships with customers and understanding their business in order to offer attractive solutions which maximise value for both the customer and Castrol. Other essential requirements of the role are:

  • Safety focused and compliant with HSSE requirements
  • Experience managing large or complex customer accounts with a track record of delivery of sales targets and performance
  • Ability to analyse the performance of your territory and develop and implement strategic and tactical business plans
  • Experience of successfully navigating organisational complexity
  • Resilient, confident and self-motivated approach
  • Flexibility of thought and action to be able to respond to changing market environments and dynamic business situations.
