About the Company 

Our client is a privately-held manufacturer and distributor of outdoor lifestyle, gardening, hardware and camping products to the Australian and New Zealand consumer retail market, with a history stretching back nearly 40 years. In some product categories, the company has become the largest distributor in Australia by recognising the needs of retailers and their customers, and developing products and services specifically to support and assist them. 

Operating from a national head office in Brisbane, the business is experiencing strong growth in the Australian market, defying the doom and gloom surrounding the retail sector.

The next growth phase involves expanding the company’s penetration in existing customer accounts by broadening the range of product categories sold into those accounts. This requires your expertise! 

About the Role 

Your new position reports to a National Sales Manager, but you will also work closely with the CEO, both of whom are Brisbane-based. The role has national responsibility so a reasonable amount of travel is involved but this typically won’t exceed a week in total across the course of a month. 

While your brief includes defending and incrementally growing current levels of penetration in core product categories, your mission is very much about growth. Specifically, you will strategically identify and pursue opportunities to sell additional product categories into major accounts, working largely at Category Manager and Buyer level, with some strategic engagement at Regional and Store Manager level. 

You will be supported by Product Manager and admin resources that will enable you to focus your efforts where you can be most effective – developing strategy and aggressively executing. 

About You 

You can demonstrate a track record of high performance in selling into the Australian retail market, with experience in the outdoor lifestyle, gardening, hardware and camping products sectors highly regarded. 

You can particularly point to involvement in strategically identifying opportunities, as well as of delivering strong growth in existing accounts as a result of high-quality execution.
