About the role

Your responsibility will be to provide account management of our existing customers and generate growth for the company by identifying and developing business opportunities.

Ideally you will be “hands on”, driven by the thrill of the sale and always hunting for opportunities to widen your portfolio in the building industry. You will be located in Melbourne with some country travel required in both Victoria and Tasmania.

The role reports to the State Manager (Vic/Tas), key accountabilities and job requirements include: 

  • Developing new business opportunities to meet and exceed targets and grow profit; 
  • Liaising with key influencers, estimators, architects, specifiers, builders and developers and following through to successful inclusion of BGC products on building projects; 
  • Managing existing accounts; 
  • Representing BGC at Trade Shows and industry events; 
  • Reporting as required. 

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you must: 

  • Be experienced in working in a sales capacity in the building industry and have a trade or professional background;
  • Have an in depth understanding of the building process and related materials;
  • Exceptional negotiation, presentation and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated success in business development with the building and construction industry to builders, architects and hardware stores. 

Strong Industry contacts would be highly regarded along with the ability to work autonomously. The successful candidate will also have a proven track record of sales, meeting budgets, activity reporting, and the ability to prioritise your time and most importantly be results focused.
