We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning and Development Officer who is seeking a position based in Geelong with a Federal Government Department. This is an APS5 level role and will be a temporary assignment until July 2019.

The Role:
The Learning and Development team is responsible for building a suite of learning and development programs. As a Learning and Development Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the Senior Learning and Development Officer to identify and assist with the design of learning programs for the Agency that support our business needs and longer term vision for organisational capability.

The Learning and Development Officer will be responsible for a range of learning and development functions including:

  • Assist with the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of learning solutions including: eLearning courses; face to face training materials such as facilitator guides and learner guides/workbooks; self-paced guides; and on-the-job learning tools
  • Developing and monitoring accessible training packages that meet WCAG 2.0 AA standards
  • Assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of a portfolio for learning programs
  • Collaborate with and build productive partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure learning solutions remain responsive and relevant to our evolving environment
  • Represent the Department at professional and technical learning and development forums
  • Deliver training in a face to face environment

About you:
As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate experience in the instructional design of a range of learning and development programs. An understanding of eLearning design principles would also be an advantage, but is not mandatory.

In order to be considered, candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • Hold a Cert IV in Training and Assessment or hold Tertiary Qualifications in Education
  • Previous experience in Learning and Development
  • Competency with IT systems and the MS office suite
  • Experience in building relationships both with internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to engage in negotiation if dealing with external providers
  • Ability to respond to and prioritise competing and often urgent requests in a calm and efficient manner while also maintaining high work standards and accuracy.
  • Ability to synthesise and analyse information and make decisions
  • Judgment and decision making within delegated limits in relation to accountability of funds and interactions with individuals and communities
