This company has a demonstrated track record of recognising and rewarding their high performers and investing significant time and resources in training.

They currently have billions of dollars of projects underway right across Australia and are continuing to expand their capability.

Due to another very recent major project win, an outstanding opportunity has become available to lead and manage the training and development function of a large and complex joint venture Alliance.

Key responsibilities within your role will include:

  • Coordinating compliance with the project workforce training and development plan for all staff, workforce and subcontractors
  • Ensuring accurate and up to date data entry in project training systems by your team
  • Coordinating the delivery of commissioned pre-employment programs
  • Monthly reporting, including Major Project Skills Guarantee
  • Ensure that subcontractors and their employees understand their Major Project Skills Guarantee (MPSG) and Social Procurement/Inclusion obligations
  • Ensure that employee and subconctractor tickets and licences are up to date
  • Develop a project specific online induction
  • Manage the engagement and development of Trainees, Apprentices and Engineering Cadets (under the MPSG framework)
  • Liaising with the safety team to ensure that any safety training needs are identified against the project training matrix

To be considered you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to cope with a fast paced, high volume workload
  • Extensive prior experience in Training and Development, preferably within a construction, engineering or related heavy industry environment
  • Strong organisation skills and able to manage competing deadlines
  • Capability to perform routine administration with a high level of attention to detail
  • Problem-solving and communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivation, with demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team

What we're looking for:

First and foremost, we want someone who is good with people and can work well in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous project based environment.

In addition to this, the preferred candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources (or at least 4 years previous project based management level experience)
  • Proficiency in the MS-Word suite of software programs
  • A 'common sense' approach to resolving problems and conflicts
  • An approachable and welcoming demeanour
  • Focus on delivery - doing what you say you'll do is key
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • A willingness to take on all tasks and develop your team and the overall project
  • Strong administrative skills
