As the Fire Safety Officer you will play a key role in all aspects of fire education, safety, protection and prevention at Northern Beaches Hospital.


Key responsibilities:
  • Ensure workplace emergency protection systems, emergency control equipment and evacuation systems remain effective
  • Conduct practical evacuation exercises/drills
  • Facilitate regular fire safety, orientation and evacuation training to SLHD employees
  • Carry out regular fire safety inspections and risk assessments
  • Respond to fire emergencies, investigate and take appropriate responsive actions
  • Monitor day to day fire prevention, protection and safety functions
  • Highlight and initiate maintenance work to correct unsafe or potentially dangerous fire risk situations.

Opening 30 October 2018, Northern Beaches Hospital will be a fully licensed private hospital, providing care to public and private patients from an outstanding facility with a large range of quality services provided by exceptional nurses, doctors and staff.


You will bring to our high-performing team:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field of fire prevention, fire safety and emergency evacuation in a large organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Building Codes of Australia, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant standards and codes
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current certification related to Fire Safety
  • Experience liaising with Fire & Rescue NSW
  • Ability to develop and implement emergency services strategies, programs and procedures and the monitoring of their effectiveness
  • Passionate about building strong relationships and delivering exceptional customer service
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment
  • High level of planning and organising skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience in development, instigating and managing service-based contracts, including resolving issues, contractor administration and performance management of service contracts
  • A related trade or building maintenance background
