Symmetry Media is a multi award-winning commercial film and video production company based in Ultimo near the ABC. We are seeking an editor/motion graphics designer to complement the existing team, to start immediately.
This position is suitable for either a junior or mid-level post all-rounder with min. 1-2 years experience in a film production/post or advertising environment and will be a full-time permanent role upon successfully completing the paid trial period of 12 weeks.
In this exciting position you will divide your time between diverse content and commercial editing and motion graphics projects day to day.

On the commercial side of the company our clients have included global brands such as Johnson & Johnson, Intel, Moccona, The Salvation Army and Toshiba, and we have worked with many of Australia's largest and most daring ad agencies, including Naked, Clemenger, Ogilvy, Royals and Iris Worldwide. On the creative side we have a number of feature film properties in development and pre-production.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ingesting, editing and archiving of video projects end to end.
- Simple sound mixing and colour correction.
- Executing motion graphics projects: primarily explainers, video infographics, kinetic text/title design, and (depending on your ability) basic pre-rigged character animation as an option.
- Weekly backups to external drives. Logging.
- Assisting our producers during quiet periods; may include assisting in sourcing and booking of equipment, crew and resources online, research, running errands etc.
The successful applicant will have all of the following:
- High attention to detail
- An ability to interpret feedback effectively and use lateral thinking
- Advanced Mac computer skills
- Superb communication, both written and verbal
- Solid time management and organisational skills
- Strong proficiency with Premiere, After Effects and the broader Adobe suite (e.g. Photoshop, Indesign)
- A passion for film, advertising or the creative industries
