Here is why we need you…

Junkee Media is on the hunt for a full-time Editor to help launch its new student vertical, Uni Junkee.

Uni Junkee is produced in partnership with parent company oOh!media and is focused on covering the issues that matter most to Australian university, TAFE and college students. Designed for students, by the students, Uni Junkee publishes content about student and campus life, relationships, jobs as well as mental health and politics.

Here's what you'll do…

As Editor you will be responsible for writing daily features while managing a team of enthusiastic student contributors across commissioning features and editing. You will be in charge of maximizing commercial opportunities through the ideation of original and engaging native content.

You'll be expected to write original content that stands out from the crowd and have a real passion for engaging and award-winning storytelling.  Responsibilities include; 

• Sourcing, writing and commissioning timely, accurate and inspiring student-centric content in the Uni Junkee tone of voice
• Commissioning, sub-editing, proof reading and publishing content via the Uni Junkee CMS
• Setting and executing functional content calendars
• Managing a large cohort of freelance contributors
• Handling the social pushes and image selection
• Representing Uni Junkee at all levels of the business including audiences, stakeholders/ oOh! and clients
• Managing the editorial reporting and budget tracking

This is what you'll look like…

• A talented super-fast writer, well-versed in standard editorial operations and have a sophisticated understanding of the digital publishing ecosystem and native content. 
• Social media savvy and know how to get your content seen as widely as possible
• At least 1-2 years' working in a digital publishing environment
• Possess a portfolio of published work with demonstrated ability to amplify content across social media
• Experience in editing the work of others with the ability to provide constructive feedback
• Demonstrate proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Mac operation
• Be passionate and interested in local and international travel, new technologies and communications platforms
• Have a strong understanding of, and alignment with, Junkee Media's Vision, Purpose and Core Values
• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Media and Communication, Arts or English (preferred)
