We are currently looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to join our Professional Services team on an initial 12 month contract with the scope for extensions. Based on our client's site, the role will see you:

• Assisting in the security related monitoring of ICT environments;
• Performing log analysis using a range of tools including the Department’s SIEM solution;
• Investigating security breaches caused by poor handling of classified information;
• Identifying and addressing fraudulent use of Departmental resources;
• Reviewing, analysing and resolving reported cyber security incidents;
• Investigating security incidents to identify root cause and drive remediation;
• Providing subject matter expertise and technical advice and assistance to the department on Cyber Security matters;
• Engaging external government organisations including Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and ASIO to establish departmental responses to cyber threats;
• Preparing written work that is well constructed, easily understood and needs little editing;
• Assisting in coordinating responses to audit, whole of government and corporate reporting obligations.

We are looking for someone with:

• Comprehensive knowledge of ICT systems, including UNIX and Windows;
• Experience performing System Administration roles;
• Comprehensive knowledge of Internet protocols and applications;
• An understanding of Network routing and switching;
• Exposure to Virtualisation technologies such as VMWare of HyperV;
• Competency with cyber security tools such as SIEM and IPS;
• Certification, or equivalent experience, in security incident handling and response procedures;
• Comprehensive knowledge of Government security standards and classifications;
• Comprehensive extensive understanding of ICT systems and associated protocols is necessary;
• Familiarity with the Information Security Manual, Protective Security Policy Framework, the APS Values and APS Code of Conduct;
• NV1 Clearance
