• Cloud Server Technician
• 6 Month Contract
• Melbourne location
• $350 - $400 per day

Are you a data centre service specialist with 8+ years experience with a combination of hardware and software technical support experience?
Are you prepared to work with a 24/7 support component?
Are you prepared for a reasonable amount of travel within a localised area in Melbourne?

You will be working independently in the data centre of a Fortune 50 business that runs critical cloud infrastructure and applications for clients across Banking, Insurance and other domains in Australia and the APAC region.

Your role as a Cloud Server Technician is to install, cable, configure, maintain the data centre infrastructure components to achieve high availability and performance of the Cloud environment.
  
Responsibilities:

• Rack, cable and configure server hardware and other appliances
• Connect and configure System and Networking devices
• Hands-on repair of equipment; swapping HDDs, power supplies and DIMMs along with other server components
• Shipping and receiving of computer equipment
• Inventory management controls (Scanning, reconciliation, EMDS)
• Monitor and test system power usage and provide reports on power consumption.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts, servers and other miscellaneous gear
• Documentation of servers and appliances within the cabinets
• Troubleshoot offline/downed server issues
• Manage inbound/outbound shipping tickets
• Reallocate and decommission servers
• Installation of System I/O cards
• Configure ILOM server configs for remote access
• Maintain service tickets (Jira) within your designated queue
• Attend weekly project and team meetings  
• Assist various teams in troubleshooting hardware and software problems to resolution
• Comply with the cloud security media policy guidelines
• Follow corporate and data center policies, and procedures.

Position Requirements:

• Experience in working in a Data Centre
• Experience in network cabling and some System Administration
• Telcom cabling experience a plus
• College diploma or university degree in the field of business information systems a plus or equivalent work experience.
• Good technical knowledge of current network hardware and standards, .
• Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Occasional travel to other data centres to perform work when needed
• Available for occasional Emergency on-call availability
• Work scheduled maintenance windows and other unexpected events(out of hours)
