THE OPPORTUNITY

NTT ICT have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced and driven Presales Engineer to join our close-knit, growing NSW Presales team. Reporting directly to the NSW Presales manager, you will be instrumental in supporting our Sales team with continued growth with your technical consulting abilities.

You will be given the opportunity to meet with our existing customers and new prospects to design and pitch solutions that address their business requirements, as well as ensure that these solutions are deliverable by NTT ICT, and work with key stakeholders in the business to ensure a satisfactory handover!

WHAT YOU WILL DO

You will need to be a motivated self starter to be able to take ownership of the following:

  • Delivering quality, timely responses to customer requests
  • Qualifying technical requirements and key business drivers from our customers
  • Evaluating products/services and creating a technical proposal including solution description, diagrams and pricing
  • Presenting solutions for internal and external stake holder review and approval, and providing clarification where requested
  • Preparing and delivering customer presentations to explain the technical solution and providing explanation and clarification where requested
  • Writing technical responses to RFP's and RFI's
  • Ensuring appropriate documentation is completed and satisfactory handovers occur to implementation teams
  • Maintaining a competitive and appropriate level of technical and professional competence, including NTT ICT product knowledge and relevant pre-sales technical certifications (with NTT's support!)
  • Working with the NTT ICT Product team to develop new products & services and provide feedback to improve current products & services
  • Managing relationships across the business including: SMEs, Service Delivery, Engineering, Project Management and Sales, together with vendors and partners.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO EXCEL

To excel in this role you will need to hold a relevant Engineering or IT degree and possess the following skills and experiences:

Essential Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years design experience, in the cloud, hosting or managed services industry
  • Cloud / data centre implementation experience
  • Presales experience an advantage

Key Skills:

  • Strong analytical and technical skills

  • Excellent presentation, writing and communication skills

  • Be proactive and self-motivated
  • Be well organised with structured approach to managing workload

Technical Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of various cloud architectures; hardware and software layers; hybrid models; orchestration; migration strategies; industry players; benefits
  • Strong knowledge of Data Centre managed services: database, server, storage and backup
  • Understanding of network and security solutions
  • Knowledge of data centres: co-location facilities, racks, cabling
  • Experience building complex solutions that include technologies such as:
    • x86 and blade server platforms (HPE, Oracle, Dell)
    • Virtualization technology (VMware, OVM)
    • Cross-vendor networking (routing, switching, VPN, load balancing, security & firewalls – Cisco, Juniper, F5, Cumulus, Mellanox)
    • Operating Systems (MS, RHEL, OEL, clustering, AD/LDAP)
    • Database (Oracle, Microsoft SQL)
    • Storage technologies and systems (NAS/SAN, performance, replication)\
    • Backup and data protection (Veeam, Commvault)
       

Commercial Skills:

  • Good working knowledge of the sales cycle
  • Working knowledge of TCO, ROI pricing models
  • Knowledge of risk and associated mitigation approaches

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of modern application stacks (eg Microsoft, Oracle, SAP)
  • Knowledge of Public Cloud Platforms (eg AWS, MS Azure, GCP)
  • Advanced security experience (eg Application level threat protection, IDS/IPS, SIEM)
  • Business continuity design experience (eg RPO/RTO design)
  • Good understanding of basic financial constructs such as pricing, amortisation, contingency
