We’re looking for someone technically minded and charismatic who recognises the elegance and artistry in sustainable building design. Maybe it’s you.

aluminium industries (ai) offers a Specification Manager position designed to drive awareness with architects and increase specifications of EDGE Architectural Aluminium Systems. We want someone who strikes that fine balance between slightly neurotic tech evangelist and social butterfly.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement the EDGE specification plan, in collaboration with the EDGE General Manager and the broader EDGE Sales Team
• Build on our, and your, existing network of relevant industry contacts, including architects, builders, designers, developers and building designers; nurture and grow the network
• Maintain mid-level technical product knowledge of the EDGE Architectural systems; able to specify standard product applications without needing to speak to the EDGE R&D team
• Be more valuable to an architect than a product catalogue or website; understand what information is important to architects; read/understand architectural plans and drawings
• Track projects via key resources like BCI and EstimateOne, identify opportunities and nurturing them to hand over to the EDGE Sales Team
• Stay aware of current industry trends and potential project opportunities; actively seek real project opportunities
• Utilise and update our software systems with any project detail, including architects, builders and fabricators, key contacts, visits, presentations, correspondence, attachments or any information pertaining to the customer
• Be an effective member of the entire EDGE team, contributing to our strategic direction, business decisions, product range opportunities, etc
• Collaborate with ai’s MarCom team to develop digital, video and print materials, continually scrutinise produced material with ideas to increase their value to architects, fabricators and builders
• Lead by example and endorse company behaviours and values
• Additional and evolving responsibilities as Ai evolves

Essential skills and traits:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Design/Interior Design, Architecture, Business or similar, or commensurate professional experience
• Proven experience as a trusted and respected Architectural Specifier and/or Project Manager
• Ability to understand technical concepts and products
• Outstanding communication skills; verbal and written
• Excellent problem solving and follow-up skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Effectively manage multiple projects at one time – plan, execute and deliver
• Ability to manage and influence relationships and expectations at all levels of an organisation
• Intermediate capability on MS Office
• Professionally presented and punctual; always
• Strong work ethic with a friendly, positive, can-do attitude towards the job, people, product and self-potential
• Pro-active learner; willing and motivated to learn all product, systems and market information
• An ability to work and contribute as part of a team; see beyond job role, department and division to what matters to the entire business
• Be confident, flexible, persistent, driven

Desirable skills and traits:

• An established network in the architect community
• Strong project management
• Confident using EstimateOne, BCI and other databases to drive specification success
• Confident using Revit and/or CAD
• Previous system (Syspro, V6, SAP, or other) experience and/or exposure
• Understanding & knowledge of a manufacturing environment
• Adaptability to new technologies, new resources, and new people
• Passion for digital and print media
• Able to ‘bring the fun’ whilst recognizing the need to deliver our plan

This position is based in our Dandenong South office, but we anticipate about 40-60% of the Specifier’s time will be spent meeting with architects nationally.
