About the Role:
 
We are looking for an experienced Interior Designer with a passion for Workspace and Commercial refurbishments to join our growing National Practice as a Lead/2IC in our Interior Design and Workspace team. 
  
You will to work with a passionate Director of Interior Design with over 20 years local and international experience including leading design firms in London and as well as with 4 other highly competent and passionate Interior Designers.
  
This is a perfect role for a senior interior designer looking to play a vital leadership and mentoring role both on projects and within the team. We have a collaborative approach to our design process and are seen as emerging thought leaders in workspace Nationally.  
  
Depending on the size of each project, our interior design team work on projects individually and as a team, managing a project from end to end, including basic documentation in Revit. As part of a National practice, there will also be exposure to a diverse range of projects across Australia too.

Our Sydney Leaders are fantastic, very approachable and caring people who believe in supporting and assisting in the development of their team.

Our funky Sydney studio is located in the heart of the Sydney CBD, close to trains, buses and ferries, with an onsite shower for those who enjoy riding or running to work. You will become part of our fun-loving, dedicated and creative team of over 20 Architects, Documentors, Interior Designers and Graphic Design professionals.

General Duties:
  
  • Play a lead role within our Workspace and Interior Design Team, assisting in mentoring and developing staff
  • Play a lead role in client briefings, workshops, design and design development
  • Play an active role in the management and delivery of projects from all stages; concept design, space planning, design development, documentation to on-site construction management and contract administration.
  • Manage the day to day operations of projects, updating Director of Interior Design and Partners when necessary 
  • Ability to create and amend drawings in Revit; including checking and marking up drawings and reviewing team members' drawings
  • Building and maintaining client relationships
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and other external stakeholders
  • Working cohesively in a small team, leading where required
  • Contributing to the ongoing development and mentoring of other staff members

About you:

Ideally you have experience working in workspace and commercial sectors and are looking to use your experience, knowledge and skills to play a lead role in a growing workspace design team.  
  
You will need to be passionate about design and able to manage projects from end to end as a project lead and autonomous interior designer depending on the size of the project.  
  
As a national Revit firm, you will need strong Revit skills and be able oversee and assist other interior designers and documentors through all project phases. We are looking for you to use your knowledge to create design that is inspiring, functional and future proof.
  
To be successful in this role you will need:
  • A Bachelor Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial interior design practice or environment
  • Strong knowledge of relevant BCA’s and related building regulations and specifications
  • Advanced Revit and strong presentation and rendering skills; Sketch-up, Indesign, Photoshop, Enscape, Rhino, Office Suite will be highly regarded
  • Solution focused – demonstrated proactive and collaborative approach to projects, clients and teams
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering designs from briefing to project handover
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to proactively communicate with clients, consultants and internal team members
  • Experience and involvement in client relationship management
  • Capacity to work as part of a team with the ability to work autonomously as required
  • Proven ability to manage more than one project at a time
