Newcastle University Sport (NUsport) is responsible for the management of The Forum venues based at The University of Newcastle Callaghan Campus and in the Honeysuckle precinct.
The Forum Sports & Aquatic Centre, University operates 7 days per week, with a heated 8-lane indoor Olympic sized swimming pool.
We are currently looking for a diligent and reliable Lifeguard and Learn to Swim Instructors to join our team and contribute to the delivery of first class customer service throughout all of our facilities and programs.
Lifeguard
Our Lifeguards are responsible for pool operations, customer service in addition to ensuring the safety and supervision of members and guests within our facility at all times.
We are currently seeking someone who is looking to build a career within the aquatics environment, with a passion for ensuring a fun and safe environment for our customers.
The position is structured as follows; permanent part time, 36 hours per week;
- Monday 2.30pm - 10.00pm
- Tuesday – Off
- Wednesday – Off
- Thursday 2.30pm- 10.00pm
- Friday 2.30pm - 10.00pm
- Saturday 1.00pm - 9.00pm
- Sunday 1.00pm – 9.00pm
To be successful in the role you will possess:
- A demonstrated ability to problem solve and use initiative
- An ability to communicate with a wide range of people
- Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard qualification
- Valid CPR & First Aid qualification
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Experience in an aquatics environment
Ideally (but not mandatory);
- Pool Operations qualification and experience
- AUSTSWIM – Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (or equivalent)
Learn to Swim Instructor
We currently have several Casual opportunities available for experienced Learn to Swim Instructors who are passionate about teaching children an invaluable life skill.
Successful candidates will be required to work a regular Saturday shift as well as weekday afternoon shifts and Sundays.
To be successful in the role you will possess:
- Demonstrated experience in an Instructing role
- An ability to communicate with a wide range of people
- AUSTSWIM – Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (or equivalent)
- Valid CPR & First Aid qualification
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Experience in an aquatics environment
Ideally (but not mandatory);
- AUSTSWIM Certificates – INF, A&I, TCS and AD.
