The primary objective of this role is to maximise rice returns through:
- Defining and articulating the value proposition of Rice in the Riverina
- Understanding the relative performance and opportunities of rice based farming systems to alternative crops.
- Understanding the performance of individual farms against benchmark and/or industry averages
- Identifying, planning and recommending (in consultation with farm agronomists as required) actions for individual farming enterprises to improve and maximise returns from Rice.
- Driving research and development education and communication
- Managing Seed Crops in the Pure Seed Programme, crop inspections, harvest planning and filed mapping
Key to your success will be your ability to:
- Lead a culture of performance excellence with respect to safety, quality and customer service
- Develop and maintain key relationships with industry stakeholders
- Ensure that all data is regularly updated and maintained accurately
- Work with the Paddy operational teams to ensure that operational standards are maintained and improved across the sites
- Instil a culture of customer satisfaction within the region to ensure the supply of appropriate quality products and services for internal and external customers at all times
- Lead a continuous improvement culture in the region utilising KPI’s and including people initiatives
To be considered for this role you will be a qualified Agronomist or similar with an up to date knowledge of the rice industry in the Riverina and extensive knowledge of seed varieties. You will be a subject matter expert in rice farming opportunities and understand how rice interacts with other crops. You will be an excellent people person able to quickly build relationships and be able to demonstrate a background in delivering business results and continuous improvements. You will be prepared to travel round the Riverina and other parts of our business.
