Ruby Management PTY LTD is a progressive meat chicken producer, operating commercial broiler and free-range facilities across multiple sites north of Adelaide in South Australia.

An exciting position has become available for a Farm Manager and an Assistant Farm Manager to join the team on one of our farms located at Port Wakefield. Ideally, we are looking for candidates with a desire to develop and progress with a company who is steadfastly proud of its culture in the ongoing retention, professional cultivation and training of staff. The Managers we are looking for will be responsible for the care and husbandry of chickens in accordance with regulatory standards and in compliance with the current processor guidelines from day old chickens until they are removed for processing.  They are also responsible for the day to day running of the site which includes general maintenance and upkeep to a high level of health and safety regulations, and to ensure that it is kept clean and tidy at all times.  Farm managers are also responsible for the training and management of staff that work on the site.

To be successful you will require the following:

·         The ability to physically perform manual handling and maintenance tasks.

·         The capacity to communicate well and implement routine work schedules to meet production deadlines and targets.

·         A commitment to work place health and safety.

·         A desire and aptitude to be a positive contributor within a team environment.

·         Previous poultry and/or livestock and mechanical/electrical experience will be well regarded.

·         Effective time management skills.

·         Attention to detail and commitment to keeping accurate records and documentation.

·         Able to work efficiently unsupervised, and have a can-do attitude and eagerness towards learning and developing staff.

·         A willingness to reside on site with an acceptance that the role will require 'on call duties', weekend work, and some after-hours work.

 Primary Duties

·         To ensure that the site is attended to at all times by a qualified member of staff when there is livestock on site.

·         Monitor animal health.

·         Ensure mortality is removed.

·         Monitor and adjust the controlled environment systems within the sheds for day to day requirements, as well as in preparation for delivery or catching.

·         Ensure that the staff employed to work on the site are trained in all aspects of the work involved, and have access to the required equipment.

·         Record data i.e. bird weights, mortalities, feed on hand and gas levels.

·         Run feed ordering and delivery systems to ensure that the right type of feed is delivered at the right time.

·         Take readings of the gas tanks and use these readings to reorder gas and ensure that the gas level is maintained at a level agreed to by management.

·         Manage and reorder supplies.

·         Operate and maintain machinery.

·         Operate a computer i.e. use software, fill in spreadsheets and produce reports.

·         Maintain Biosecurity Levels.

·         Communicate with the Operations Manager on all matters relating to the operation of the site.

·         Liaise with the processors and provide all requested information as directed by management.

·         Provide timely reports and keep ordered copies of receipts.

·         Liaise with and organise contractors in order to coordinate the cleanouts to ensure that sheds are ready for the next batch.

·         Set up sheds ready for placement and follow all placement procedures.

·         Adhere to, and ensure all staff adhere to, all company procedures. These include, but are not limited to, time keeping procedures, Bio-security procedures, Freepa Regulations (for free range sites) and RSPCA Regulations (for RSPCA approved sites).

A remuneration package including salary, residence on site, utilities, vehicle and services will be offered commensurate with skills and experience.
