No day is the same in this important leadership role that drives stronger connections between vital services. We need your exceptional people skills to motivate community agencies and Government Departments to collaborate and commit to action focused activities, improving opportunities for vulnerable children and families to live happy, safe and healthy lives.

Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit.

We’re ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children’s rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. We run programs in Australia and overseas and, if there’s a disaster - like an earthquake, drought or conflict - we are there on the ground.

Where you come in:

In this full-time, 12-month maximum term position (with possibility for extension) based in our Mount Isa office, you will facilitate a variety of network meetings and activities. In particular, you will support the Local Level Alliance across Mount Isa and the Gulf, and the Collective Impact objectives for the Connected Beginnings Program in Doomadgee. Working with the National Policy and Advocacy team, you will provide local leadership to progress important community development and collective impact initiatives in Mount Isa and the Gulf.

The purpose of the Local Level Alliance (LLA) is to strengthen connections between local services that are involved in working with vulnerable families to ensure families receive the right services at the right time.

You will make an impact by:

  • Engaging Government and Non-Government services in creative strategies to build community capacity and strengthen the service system
  • Reducing the number of unnecessary reports to Child Safety as a result of more efficient and effective pathways for children and families to access support services
  • Promoting and encouraging the use of the Family and Child Connect and Family Integrated Case Management meetings
  • Assisting services to develop shared practice framework and resources
  • Contributing to place-based planning for the development of integrated local services that provide families with accessible, responsive and effective support

If we could compose the perfect you…

… You are an enthusiastic and committed leader with demonstrated experience in working collaboratively to achieve outcomes. Your highly developed cultural awareness and sensitivity, partnered with excellent communication skills, will enable you to build community networks and lasting relationships. You are not afraid of a challenge and constantly seek to grow and develop. You have a toolkit of facilitation techniques that are innovative and are highly skilled in engaging people to work together to address complex issues.

This role requires:

  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to nurture stakeholder relationships
  • Exceptional facilitation skills
  • Ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate activities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and complex scenarios
  • Current valid driver’s licence
  • Certificate, Diploma or Bachelor qualification in a relevant human services discipline is desirable
