Melbourne City Mission has been a leader in the delivery of Youth Foyer like models since 2004.  We currently manage several models of Youth Foyers across metropolitan Melbourne. MCM’s Step Ahead program was the first foyer model response to young people.

The Out of the Dark Family Violence program is one of the Justice programs that supports women in prison. The Out of the Dark program is a psycho-educational group program developed to address family violence issues for women in custody.

The Out of the Dark program has been run as a pilot project since 2009 at the women’s prison and Corrections Victoria have recently approved a ministerial grant for the program to be run until June 2019.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Deliver a psycho-educational program that addresses family violence in line with the program guidelines across both Victorian Women’s prisons
• Deliver a group program to women at correctional facilities in a respectful and sensitive manner
• To advertise, recruit participants and negotiate program times and dates within the two prisons
• Understand issues facing women in a prison setting
