Children's Therapeutic Worker

If you have experience working therapeutically with children and young people who have experienced trauma and have the ability to design and coordinate activities that engage vulnerable children you could be our Children's Therapeutic Worker.

You would need to be available on a casual basis and be able to work during the day and sometimes at night.

The position reports to our Senior Family Support Worker.

To be considered for the role you will need to demonstrate that you have a range of skills and knowledge, including the following:

Essential

1. Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in working with young people.

2. Minimum certificate 4 in Youth Work, Mental Health or Community Services.

3. Demonstrated experience and/or skills in negotiation, advocacy, and crisis and case management.

4. Experience working therapeutically with children and young people who have experienced trauma.

5. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage children/youths and effectively communicate with service providers and stakeholders.

6. An awareness of the main issues of working with vulnerable clients and an awareness of specific issues affecting children and youth that have experienced trauma.

7. Ability to design and coordinate activities that engage vulnerable children.

8. Skills in the use of Microsoft word, email and internet.

9. High level of written communication skills.

10. Capacity to work autonomously and manage diverse tasks within a team environment in a crisis setting.

Desirable

A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Education and/ or related behavioural Sciences at degree level.
