Lead Practitioner – Family Engagement Worker

Mind Australia Limited is one of Australia’s most trusted providers of family, friend and carer inclusive community mental health services, with over 40 years’ experience

We are pleased to announce our partnership with Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service in the development of a new purpose built mental health facility in Bundaberg. This new short term residential service will provide alternatives to hospital admission and is for people of Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg and the rural and coastal communities in the Wide Bay area.

We are looking for Lead Practitioner – Family Engagement worker to join our team on a part time basis. The Family Engagement Worker (FEW) ensures that the families and carers of customers of the SUSD are welcomed, included and involved in the services provided to their loved one.

 

As part of the team at Mind you will:

  • Work 22.8 hours per week, generally 9-5, but can be flexible to match the needs of families eg: evenings and weekends by negotiation
  • Work closely with customers and clinicians of the Wide Bay HHS to provide information and support to families and where required referral external providers
  • Work with customers to enable them return to their place of residence and a meaningful life through supporting them through a staged approach to recovery
  • Work in partnership with clinical services and other key stake holders
  • Assist client to build networks and support which will help them once they have exited the service
  • Casual & part time position also available

 

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health related field as designated by Mind
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working within a recovery oriented framework
  • A positive attitude to the work
