About the organisation

Jesuit Social Services is a social change organisation working to build a just society where all people can live to their full potential.

Since 1977, Jesuit Social Services has provided services to some of the most disadvantaged in our community.

We place a high priority on advocacy and are a leader in policy development and research.

About the program

In 2017 we launched The Men’s Project, a new initiative with a focus on positive social change surrounding masculinity; improving men’s wellbeing and relationships; and reducing violence and other harmful behaviours that are prevalent among boys and men.

About the role

We are looking for a passionate, talented and energetic General Manager who will play a leading role in this major new initiative by:

  • overseeing the design, testing and evaluation of new approaches and programs focused on working with boys and men;
  • building knowledge of what works and using this to enhance the capability of individuals, institutions and communities that work with boys and men; and
  • contributing to efforts to influence systemic and cultural change so there are more effective responses to boys and men, and ultimately a safer community.

The role will work closely with the Executive Director – The Men’s Project and staff and participants from across Jesuit Social Services existing programs and partners in government, business and the community. In particular, the role will involve close collaboration with Jesuit Social Services’ Learning and Practice Development Unit (LPDU).

The role is full time, but flexible or part time work arrangements can be negotiated for the right candidate.

Jesuit Social Services seeks to engage the entire community in the work of The Men’s Project, including women and people from diverse communities. Accordingly we welcome female applicants and applicants from diverse communities for this role.

Candidate requirements

To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated experience in social service program design, delivery and/or evaluation; as well as a strong understanding of issues around men’s health and wellbeing, masculinities, gender equality and the prevention of violence against women and children.

You will be creative, energetic and sympathetic to the values of the organisation.
