About the opportunity

We have exciting opportunities for Social Workers to join the team as Child FIRST Practitioners at the Connections’ Narre Warren office.  Vacancies are due to internal career development moves.

 

The positions are full time, with regular 9 to 5 hours.   Some of the positions are permanent, and some are initially maximum term appointments with  options for extension or transfer to other Child, Youth and Family programs within Uniting.  

 

Child FIRST (Family Information Referral and Support Team) provides

  • The common intake point for referrals from DHHS Child Protection, schools, other community service organisations and the general community
  • Support for families that require a Family Service
  • Support for the well-being of children

 

A typical busy day will include:

  • Receive referrals into the Child FIRST service as part of a committed team
  • Use your communication skills to build rapport and carry out phone based risk and needs assessment
  • Provide information and advice to referrers
  • Offer crisis intervention
  • Prepare reports and case notes
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other agencies for client referral and support

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a relevant tertiary degree qualification in a field related to Social Work or Psychology.
