First Responder – new exciting position

If you are looking for an opportunity to improve access to services for people experiencing Domestic and Family Violence and/or homelessness, then this could be your dream role.

About Us

Domestic Violence Service Management (DVSM) is state-wide provider of specialist homelessness services with a focus on Domestic and Family Violence (DFV).

DFV is an affront to a person’s dignity, it compromises a person’s safety and undermines their wellbeing.

All our services work to uphold people’s dignity and we look at safety and wellbeing in a person centred way. We facilitate individualised and coordinated support to individuals and families.

About the Role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a skilled Case Manager to join our team 4 days per week for an initial trial until 30 June 2019. While the role is based predominantly in the Blacktown area, some work will be required in the Sydney City area to support the Moving Out Moving On (MOMO) service.

The First Responder role has been developed to support and provide an effective first response to all people contacting the ROAR/MOMO/DVAHS services in line with DVSM’s values. The First Responder works flexibly to ensure all people contacting the service are met with a positive response and follow up of a high standard. This includes developing sound interagency relationships and great sector understanding to support effective referral pathways. All DVSM services operate within “No Wrong Door” policy and provide support to navigate the sector and make referrals for ongoing support as identified by the person seeking support.

This role is varied in terms of task and there is a real opportunity for the right person to take leadership in developing this role to its maximum potential.

In this role you will be facilitating initial assessments with people looking for support and you will engage with referring agencies to take and make referrals on behalf of people in the community. You will also work closely with the Service Delivery team to ensure seamless access and follow up effectively upholding the dignity of people. You will also be supporting the development of internal guidelines for responding to people reaching out for support.

About You

You will be passionate about making a difference to people’s lives, demonstrating empathy, flexibility and responsiveness.  You are strongly committed to upholding the dignity of all people and you have the ability to think flexibly when problem solving.
