The Role

We are calling for Expressions of Interest for an experienced Coordinator, Accommodation & Respite, to manage group accommodation and respite homes in the Hunter Valley. The primary purpose of this role is to oversee the management of up to eight (8) units of supported accommodation and respite services for people with disability in a range of locations to ensure high quality service provision in accordance with organisational policies and procedures, legislation and allocated resources.

As a Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

  • Supervising, developing and supporting Team Leaders and Disability Support Workers so that they can undertake their roles effectively and ensuring consistency in service delivery.
  • Overseeing house budgets to ensure the appropriate use of resources and that services are provided to the required quality standards and within an allocated budget.
  • Responsible for recruiting staff and facilitate staff training, coaching to help improve staff skill levels and address skill gaps.
  • Monitoring rosters to ensure compliance with rostering principles, budgets, and client needs by participating in the on call roster to ensure that there is adequate on call support for all participants in the accommodation and respite services.
  • Making decisions independently regarding the utilisation, management and evaluation of resources in those areas for which the position is responsible, including team management, allocation of overtime and leave, work health and safety reporting and actions in line with company policy and guidelines and relevant legislation.
  • Advocating for people's rights, and a good coach as you work with participants to move towards greater independence and personal fulfilment.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Ability to effectively manage a team of up to 8 team leaders
  • Good communication, consultation, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Management skills, including human resources and financial management skills, to effectively manage organisational resources
  • Knowledge of the relevant legislation impacting on human services delivery, particularly disability services
  • Experience to successfully manage, encourage and develop a team of individuals with differing skills levels
  • Experience to successfully manage risks including financial and work health and safety
  • 2 years + experience in similar role
  • Computer skills, including the use of standard computer applications for efficient use of systems

Essential Requirements

  • Current Emergency Response or First Aid Certificate
  • Working with Children Check
  • Minimum P2 drivers licence and willingness to travel between multiple sites in the Newcastle and Hunter area.
  • Own vehicle that is comprehensively insured
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
