Your Opportunity

Mission Australia Housing Services provides high quality affordable rental housing to low and moderate income households. We also develop urban regeneration ventures and provide tenants access to a variety of community support services, supporting their goals of sustaining long term tenancies.

As Housing Officer, you will successfully deliver a wide range of tenancy and property management services to clients on low to moderate incomes and clients with complex needs.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Tenancy Management – Lease vacant properties by conducting sign-ups for tenancies ensuring that all required paperwork and documentation is thoroughly and accurately completed.
  • Administration - Prepare a range of reports in regard to the running of the service including tenancy demographics, rental arrears, vacancies and property management 
  • Reporting -  Property data is captured in a timely way within MAH internal systems to facilitate effective tenancy and asset management planning and reporting.
  • Tenant & Community Engagement -  Actively engage with tenants to encourage participation in MAH and community programs and initiatives.

 Requirements for Success 

  • Previous housing experience in a community housing or government setting.
  • Solid understanding of the community housing sector and the needs of social and affordable housing tenants.
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Competent in the use of information technology.
  • Senior First Aid certificate or willingness to gain it.

Mission Australia is a complex matrixed organisation, operating 550 services nationally, therefore your ability to drive outcomes, think creativity and demonstrate strong leadership skills will be key to your success. You will also need to hold a current Working with Children Check or apply for one. It is unlawful for prohibited persons to apply for work with children, and, as such, prohibited persons cannot apply for this role.

As part of our Employment screening process you will also be required to undertake a National Criminal History Check, if you haven’t completed one in the last 12 months.
