About the Programs/Role
Mission Australia's Youth Accommodation Support Service in Victoria Park provides crisis accommodation to young people aged 15-18 years, and transitional housing for people aged 16 - 25 years.
We currently require an experienced Residential Youth Worker to join our friendly and committed team on a casual basis.
You will be responsible for:
- Assessment and Induction of young people to the service
- Responding to the immediate needs of young people
- Supporting young people toward achieving their casework goals
- Providing practical assistance, informal counselling and education as required
- Ensuring client records are kept up to date
In order to be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Relevant Degree or TAFE Diploma in Youth Work;
- Relevant youth work experience
- Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal young people and young people from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Code of Ethics for Youth Workers in WA, and an ability to apply these principles to youth work practice
- Ability to work alone and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to work night shifts and weekends
- Working with Children Card
- "C" Class drivers' license
