About the Programs/Role

Mission Australia's Youth Accommodation Support Service in Victoria Park provides crisis accommodation to young people aged 15-18 years, and transitional housing for people aged 16 - 25 years. 

We currently require an experienced Residential Youth Worker to join our friendly and committed team on a casual basis.

You will be responsible for:

• Assessment and Induction of young people to the service
• Responding to the immediate needs of young people
• Supporting young people toward achieving their casework goals
• Providing practical assistance, informal counselling and education as required
• Ensuring client records are kept up to date

In order to be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Relevant Degree or TAFE Diploma in Youth Work;
• Relevant youth work experience
• Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal young people and young people from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Code of Ethics for Youth Workers in WA, and an ability to apply these principles to youth work practice
• Ability to work alone and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Ability to work night shifts and weekends
• Working with Children Card
• "C" Class drivers' license
