The role

We are looking for an experienced Child Care Educator with a Certificate III in children's services who values partnering with families, is keen to further develop their skills and wants to join a passionate, capable and dedicated team at KU Alfred. We have one position working Monday to Friday 5.5 hours per day, the second position work Monday to Friday 8 hours per day.

The Centre

KU Alfred Child Care Centre, Located in Alfred Lane Melbourne offers a caring, secure and nurturing child care program for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old, we emphasise an inclusive environment where children feel like they belong and are encouraged to play, discover and learn. The KU Alfred Child Care Centre was established in 2004 by The Alfred Hospital to support Alfred Hospital employees. The centres environment is a caring space, that is safe, stimulating and rich in natural resources, which creates a homely and welcoming atmosphere. Our environment gives children opportunities to explore, investigate, enquire and problem-solve.

The impact you’ll have

  • work as a member of a co-operative team in order to provide an appropriate educational program for the children within her/his care.
  • ensure that up to date records are maintained for each child under that persons care.
  • ensure that the policies of KU and the funding authorities are implemented in providing appropriate care and educational programs for children.

What we’re looking for?

We want you to be as passionate about early childhood education and as committed to achieving positive outcomes as we are. In addition you will have:

  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Work rights to enable you to work in Australia
  • Recognised Certificate III in Children’s Services or similar as approved by Australian Children’s Education and Quality Authority (ACECQA)
  • Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law(2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011)
  • Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF)(VEYLF)
  • Professional level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Current knowledge of Child Protection legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills
