Applicants are sought for a Deputy Principal – Learning and Teaching at St Andrew’s School commencing Term 1, 2019.

The School is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic educational leader, with the ability to provide inspirational leadership, vision and direction for teaching and learning.

Working with the Executive Leadership Team, the successful applicant will be an innovative educator with a proven track record in motivating children and staff to achieve exemplary outcomes in a future focused school. The applicant will be an exceptional communicator, an outstanding academic and have a proven record of strategic leadership at a senior level.

Candidates will be required to meet the following selection criteria:

  • Hold a current Teacher Registration in South Australia
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Highly focused on achieving student outcomes to develop the whole child
  • Knowledge of inquiry learning essential
  • Experience in the IB PYP preferable
  • A high level of competency in Primary education
  • Supportive of independent education and the School's Anglican ethos
  • Supportive of the Reggio Emilia educational principles, inquiry based learning and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme
  • Use best endeavours to maintain, promote and advance the reputation and the success of the School
  • Superior negotiation, strategic thinking and commercial acumen skills are also required.
  • Have the ability to take initiative, balance a changing agenda with day to day commitments and employ sound judgment whilst remaining energised by strategic direction

Key areas of focus for the role are:

Teaching and Learning 

  • Continue to develop, lead and manage Teaching and Learning from Year 1-7, ensuring that St Andrew’s School continues to lead education through innovative teaching and learning initiatives that reflect contemporary views of education 
  • Lead the School’s commitment to inclusive education through a focus on personalised learning and multiple academic pathways for all students 
  • Develop the Learning Framework to reflect a focus on deeper learning and inquiry-based learning
  • Develop, manage and lead strategic projects across the School that contribute to the development of the School
  • Ensure that the School continues to evolve by fostering a culture of evaluation and improvement across the area of Teaching and Learning 
  • Lead and manage the School’s focus to ensure that foundational skills are embedded in a whole-school approach to literacy and numeracy 
  • Maintain and enhance the School’s strong record of academic excellence

Leadership

  • In collaboration with the Principal, develop specific educational directions for the School, including priorities and goals for specific learning areas
  • Contribute to the broad leadership of the School, including being a strong and visible presence at School events, daily operations and at extra-curricular and co-curricular activities    
  • Inspire, motivate and lead a variety of teams within the School

Wider community

  • Nurture and develop relationships across the broader community
  • Demonstrate a responsiveness to the community and their needs, ensuring that the School continues to actively partner with members of the broader educational community 
  • Be involved and actively participate in the education profession, by making a contribution to the broader educational community
